Once again, it is time to delve into the history of LEGO®. This time it's the turn of LEGO® Bionicle, a much-loved LEGO® theme that originated in the early 21st century. It was characterised not only by its unique building style and futuristic designs, but also by its extensive mythology and storyline that captivated fans from all over the world. The Origins
LEGO® Bionicle was first introduced in 2001. The idea behind Bionicle was to create a theme that harnessed both children's creativity and the endless possibilities of LEGO® building bricks. The concept was inspired by a combination of technology, nature and mythology, resulting in a unique universe that went beyond building figures.
The Bionicle Universe
Bionicle story was set on the island of Mata Nui, a mysterious world where several tribes of biomechanical creatures known as Toa, Matoran and Turaga lived. The battle between good and evil was central to the storyline, with heroic Toa characters battling against dark forces such as the evil Makuta.
Evolution of the Bionicle
Over the years, LEGO® Bionicle constantly evolved. New sets were released, with increasingly advanced building techniques and designs. The universe also expanded with additional stories, comic books and even films, which gave fans a deeper dive into the rich mythology and background of the Bionicle world.
