The ornithologist just spotted this bird. She had been looking for it for some time in the tropical regions of Central America and of South America.
The toucan's most striking feature is its large but feathery multicolored beak. According to scientists in Science, the huge beak acts as a cooling system, much like an elephant's ears. They found that the temperature of the beak changes rapidly as the environment gets warmer or cooler. This allows the toucan to quickly lose excess body heat.
