Review: LEGO® DREAMZzz Fantastic Treehouse 71461

The home of the heroes from the DREAMZzz series is the 71461 Fantastic Treehouse. The treehouse consists of 3 parts: Mrs Castillo's kitchen, Izzie and Mateo's bedroom with a living room and a lookout tower with a great swing. The treehouse can be built in party mode or defence mode. Details come to life with minifigures of key characters, including Mrs Castillo, Izzie, Mateo and the Night Hunter.

71461-versions

To make the treehouse, we need a total of 13 bags of LEGO®, a few loose parts, a sticker sheet and the instruction booklet or the LEGO® Builder app. So let's get started quickly before the nightmares arrive. 71461-content

We start the build with Ms Castillo. She will start with her hourglass staff and a watering can to grow the tree in front of the treehouse. From bag 1, you will build the base of the tree. In it you'll find an oven for baking biscuits. Other than that, it still looks bare but that will be fine later in the construction. Just wait and see.

71461-part-1

Bag 2 contains the parts for the second floor of the treehouse. By using LEGO® Technic parts, the treehouse is reinforced. This allows the tree house to be built on a relatively small surface and still remain solid.

71461-part-2

For the third part, a Dreamling Mushroom comes along to help. He helps to dress up the bottom at the base of the treehouse and put a bench and t.v. on the second floor. This section already has a lot of stickers that need to be pasted. And there will be many more in the further construction.

71461-part-3

The always cheerful Izzie is sound asleep and comes from bag four building her floor of the treehouse. This floor will also include a bed and bedside table for Izzie. The nightly snack has also been thought of. A delicious pizza is waiting.

71461-part-4

Of course, our hero Mateo also needs a room in this treehouse. This is in the next bag along with Mateo. Z-Blob is also coming to help. This room will be on top of Izzie's and will also have a bed and bedside table. After this, these two floors will be placed on top of the bottom two and reinforced with LEGO® Technic parts.

71461-part-5

Bag 6 contains the top floor. Use this to make the watchtower, further finish the side of the tree trunk and already place some decorations. It's already starting to look like a real treehouse. Only there are no branches and leaves on it yet.

71461-part-6

We find a first branch with blue leaves and flowers in the seventh bag. Here we also used the two loose flexible parts with number 27965. With these you can make the swing that will be attached to one of the branches of the treehouse.

The rest of the branches are in bag eight. Building these can be a bit repetitive. especially if you have to make the leaves. But the final result counts and it looks great.

71461-part-7

High time to further dress up the treehouse with decorations. What's that? From bag nine, a cheerful mailbox also comes running with the mail. Furthermore, we stick some stickers for decoration again and build a funny little bird. Then the nightmares come out. A mushroom is taken over by the nightmare world and turns into a mushroom with big teeth.

And if that's not enough, from bag ten comes Night Hunter with Snivel and a Grim Grabber. This Grim Grab is a lot smaller and simpler to assemble compared to the Grim Grab from set 71455.

Party or defend

With the eleventh bag, the choice is back to choose which version you will build. We like to party so we went for party mode. But if you want to prevent the nightmares from taking over the tree house. Then make the tree house defence mode.

We will first build the extension to Izzie's room. In the room, a party hat and a cake are ready and balloons and a big nameplate are hanging on the outside. Mateo's room consists of different kinds of greenery and has a "slime" theme. This room comes in bag twelve. On top of the extension's roof are confetti cannons. Finally, we build a small floor for Ms Castillo. This is in the last bag. Mrs Castillo makes the most delicious donuts for the party in the treehouse. A party it is. The nightmares are defeated and the treehouse is ready.

The minifigures

So there are seven minifigures in this set as you could read. Mateo again has his head and shirt printed on two sides and a two-colour moulded legs with printing. Mateo also wears a green cape and belt. Izzie also has two-colour printed legs. And a body and head printed on two sides. She also wears purple shoulder pads and has a fabric skirt. Ms Castillo looks the same as in the other LEGO® DREAMZzz sets. With her special body with backpack and a head printed on two sides and white hairdo. The backpack is a bit different compared to the other versions, though. Namely, there are two 1x1 round plates on the side. The Dreamling and Z-Blob have the new small body. Z-Blob a small head with small eyes and slime on its head and the Dreamling an all-round printed head with a 3x3 saucer printed with dots. Snivel has a printed small body, shoulder protection. The head is of a new size and measures 2x2x2. Night Hunter has a black hat with an eye and a special scarf. The head has yellow eyes and a scar on the cheek and his body and legs are printed.

Conclusion

This is one of the larger sets in the LEGO® DREAMZzz series and is a fun challenge to build. The colours used match the characters well and there is plenty of difference between the two different versions you can build. There are quite a lot of stickers used in this set but they do have a high decorative value. All in all, a decorative set with lots of detail and where there is plenty to discover.

The fantastic tree house in the series

The fantastic tree house grows into a full-fledged tree house from the end of episode 4. This shows once again that even the greatest things start small and need time to grow
