The evolution of the LEGO® Death Star

The Death Star is undoubtedly one of the most legendary structures in the Star Wars™ universe. A terrifying superweapon sphere capable of destroying entire planets... and for LEGO® fans: one of the most impressive builds ever made. LEGO has released several Death Star sets over the years - each with its own charm, building experience and unique minifigures.

In this article, we dive into the history of the LEGO Death Star, take a look at which parts and minifigures you can find at ToyPro, and look ahead to the brand new LEGO® Death Star (75419).

Death Star II (10143) - The builder's classic from 2005

The first official Death Star set appeared in 2005 and represented the unfinished Death Star II from Return of the Jedi. This UCS (Ultimate Collector Series) set consisted of over 3,449 parts and contained no minifigures - the focus was entirely on construction.

Many used parts from this set, such as round grey panels, Technic beams and slopes, can still be found separately at ToyPro. Ideal for fans looking to restore or upgrade their old UCS model.

Death Star (10188) - The ultimate playset from 2008

In 2008, perhaps the most famous Death Star ever was released: set 10188. With 3,803 parts and as many as 24 minifigures, LEGO® brought a complete Death Star interior to life. From the Emperor's throne room to the trash compactor - every room was full of play features.

  • Darth Vader
  • Luke Skywalker (Jedi outfit)
  • Princess Leia
  • Han Solo
  • Stormtroopers
  • Emperor Palpatine
  • Death Star Troopers

All these characters - and their accessories such as lightsabers, helmets and capes - can be found as separate minifigures or parts in ToyPro's range.

Death Star (75159) - A modern update from 2016

In 2016, the legendary set got a makeover: Death Star 75159. With 4,016 parts and 27 minifigures, this was an improved version of 10188, with modern prints, minor design updates and improved mechanics.
