Alex Foster knew what it was to fight. As a Williams driver, he did not have the fastest car, but he did have the determination to perform. Today, at the legendary Spa-Francorchamps circuit, he got his chance.
The race started in the rain. Perfect for an underdog like him. While the top teams struggled with grip, Alex deftly steered his Williams through Eau Rouge, full of confidence. In the first laps, he overtook two cars - an Alfa Romeo and a Haas. "P12, keep going like that," sounded his engineer.
Halfway through the race it cleared up and the track dried quickly. Williams gambled on an early pit stop for dry-weather tires. A risk, but it paid off. Alex entered the track ahead of three competitors and was suddenly on P9.
With five laps to go he had to fight an Alpine, faster on the straight. Every corner he defended with everything he had. The last lap, last chicane - the Alpine tried one more time, but Alex held on.
The flag fell. P9! Two points for Williams! It felt like a victory. When he got out of the car and his team ran up to him cheering, he knew: This was just the beginning of something big.
