100 days to go until Christmas

Today is Wednesday 16 September 2026. The Christmas tree is probably still in the loft, the lights are likely still neatly packed away in their box, and nobody needs to be wearing a Christmas jumper just yet. Still, the calendar doesn’t lie: Christmas is exactly 100 days away.
For LEGO® builders, this is the perfect time to start making plans. After all, an elaborate LEGO Christmas village won’t build itself. Especially not if you also want to add a Christmas market, an ice rink, a railway track, a gingerbread house and Santa’s workshop.

Just 100 days until Christmas
A hundred days sounds like ages. Yet every builder knows how quickly that time flies once a big building project is on the table. First, you just look for some white plates to represent snow. Then you decide the village needs a station as well. Next, you add a Christmas market, and before you know it, you’re trying to hide a whole snow-covered mountain behind the living room sofa.
By starting now, you can build your LEGO Christmas world at a leisurely pace. You’ll have time to choose a theme, gather any missing pieces and try out different building techniques. You can also rebuild older LEGO Christmas sets and check that all the pieces, minifigures and accessories are still there.
Of course, you don’t have to put up all your Christmas decorations today. Think of 16 September simply as the starting point for your preparations. The Christmas carols can wait a little longer, but you can already start sorting your white, red, green and gold bricks.
New LEGO® Christmas sets for 2026
The 2026 LEGO Christmas collection features various models that are suitable for displaying, hanging up or building on further. From a large Father Christmas to snowmen and a gingerbread house: there are sets for both small Christmas corners and extensive winter displays.
The LEGO® Large Santa Claus Minifigure (40820) consists of 761 pieces and is approximately 27 centimetres tall. The model features the recognisable red outfit, white beard and Santa hat. The arms are movable and the large minifigure can be displayed either standing or sitting.
Thanks to its size, this Santa Claus makes an eye-catching Christmas decoration on a cupboard, desk or windowsill. You can, of course, also incorporate him into a larger scene. For example, build a large-scale workshop, place presents around his feet or position a few minifigure elves in the surroundings. This suddenly makes it look as though Father Christmas has taken on a particularly small staff.
The LEGO® Snowman Ornaments (40812) set consists of two buildable snowmen. The adult snowman wears a top hat and is holding a present. The smaller snowman has a hat, glasses and a lantern. Both models feature a hanging loop, so you can hang them on the tree as LEGO Christmas decorations.
Those who’d rather build a complete winter home can opt for the LEGO® Winter Gingerbread House (40809). The model can be opened and features, amongst other things, Father Christmas’s desk, a fireplace and a bedroom. The included Father Christmas minifigure ensures that the cottage is not only decorative but can also be used for little Christmas stories.
A gingerbread AT-AT and other playful Christmas sets
Not every Christmas set has to consist of a traditional cottage, Christmas tree or snowman. The LEGO® Star Wars™ Gingerbread AT-AT™ Walker (40806) proves that even the Empire makes time for biscuits and Christmas decorations during the festive season.
The AT-AT is designed in a gingerbread style and includes a special Gingerbread Darth Vader minifigure. The legs are adjustable, the cockpit opens and the sides provide access to the interior. Inside, you’ll find, amongst other things, a fireplace, presents, Christmas stockings, a table, a biscuit and a candy cane.
The result is a combination of LEGO Star Wars and Christmas that probably nobody would have put on their wish list a hundred days ago, but which works surprisingly well. The set can be displayed on its own or form part of an alien Christmas scene featuring snowtroopers, white landscapes and vehicles in festive colours.
For a smaller Christmas build, there’s LEGO® Cataclaws’ Snow Adventure (30718). This compact Mini-Build consists of 70 pieces and features Cataclaws on a sledge full of Christmas presents. The model can be pushed down a buildable snow-covered hill.
The LEGO® Santa’s Delivery Truck (40746) is ideal when all those presents need to be delivered somewhere. The truck opens up and contains various gifts. A small Christmas tree can be placed on the roof, and there’s an elf minifigure sitting behind the wheel.
Combine the truck with a post office, toy shop or workshop. Then add a few loose boxes, letters and minifigures. This creates a complete delivery service that’s likely to be working slightly longer hours than usual in December.
Counting down with the 2026 LEGO® Advent calendars
Although there are still 100 days to go until Christmas, the familiar countdown with Advent calendars doesn’t, of course, begin until 1 December. Nevertheless, September is a good time to see which 2026 LEGO Advent calendar suits you best.
The LEGO® City 2026 Advent Calendar (60510) contains 24 surprises featuring winter-themed mini-models, accessories and characters. The figures include Father Christmas, Mother Christmas, three elves, a snowman and a baby reindeer. Once opened, the models can be combined to create a larger workshop for Father Christmas.
The LEGO® Friends Advent Calendar 2026 (42698) focuses on winter activities. The calendar contains mini-dolls of Nova, Liann and Aliya, as well as various animals, including a seal, a pony, a weasel, a polar bear, a penguin and a bunny. There are also small presents, Santa hats, biscuits and marshmallows to be found.
The LEGO® Disney Princess Advent Calendar 2026 (43298) combines Christmas with various Disney stories. Behind the doors you’ll find, amongst others, micro-minifigures of Ariel, Cinderella, Moana and Mulan, alongside animal characters such as Mushu, Pua and Sebastian.
Star Wars fans can also open a door every day with the LEGO® Star Wars™ Advent Calendar 2026 (75456). This calendar centres on *Star Wars: The Mandalorian* and includes, amongst others, the Mandalorian, Moff Gideon, Grogu and various buildable vehicles and creatures.
The Mandalorian and Grogu are even wearing matching Christmas jumpers. Grogu’s jumper says ‘Mando’ and Mando’s says ‘Grogu’. This means they’re all set for a Christmas photo – one that probably no one took part in entirely of their own free will.
Start building your LEGO® Christmas village now
A LEGO Christmas village doesn’t have to be completed all at once. Start with a single building, a small square or a stretch of snow-covered street. Then, each year, you can add a new house, vehicle or winter scene.
The Winter Gingerbread House, for example, could form the centrepiece of a sweet Christmas square. Place Santa’s Delivery Truck next to it and add a postbox, a lantern and a few Christmas trees. On the other side of the square, you could build an ice rink, a toy shop or a stall selling hot chocolate.
Even standard LEGO City buildings can be converted into Christmas houses. Replace a few roof plates with white pieces, place Christmas wreaths by the doors and add fairy lights, presents and winter-themed minifigures. A building doesn’t have to be officially released as a Christmas set to become part of your winter village.
Individual LEGO® Christmas minifigures bring the village to life
A Christmas village without residents soon looks as though everyone has gone off to visit family at the same time. With individual LEGO® Christmas minifigures, you can fill the streets, shops, workshops and winter markets.
The individual LEGO® Father Christmas is, of course, the best-known character. Put him in a sledge, place him next to a pile of presents, or have him enjoy a cup of hot chocolate after delivering all the presents took a little longer than planned.
Mrs Claus fits right in with Santa’s workshop, kitchen or living room. She can supervise the elves, hand out biscuits or try to explain that fitting a hundred presents into one small sledge might not be the best logistical choice.
With the man in the Christmas jumper, you add an ordinary villager to the village. Place him at the Christmas market, by a stall or in front of a house with far too many lights. It’s precisely these everyday characters that ensure the village isn’t just made up of Father Christmas and his staff.
Winter minifigures for the ice rink and ski slope
As well as traditional Christmas characters, winter-themed LEGO minifigures are also ideal for a Christmas village. A skater, snowboarder or walker instantly brings a snowy landscape to life.
The skater in a Christmas jumper fits perfectly on a small ice rink. Build a smooth surface using transparent light blue bricks and place a bench, a lantern and a stall selling hot drinks along the edge.
The man with snowshoes can be used in a forest, mountain landscape or walking trail outside the village. Add snow-covered trees and a few animal figures to create a peaceful winter scene.
The snowboarder in a festive jumper adds a bit more action to the scene. Build a slope out of white tiles, place a few flags along the route and, above all, make sure there’s no Christmas stall right in the landing zone at the bottom of the slope.
Create your own LEGO® Father Christmas
If you can’t find exactly the right Christmas minifigure, you can put together your own character using individual parts. At ToyPro, you’ll find separate heads, hats, torsos, legs, beards and accessories.
The LEGO® Santa hat instantly gives almost any minifigure a festive look. Combine the hat with a red torso for a traditional Santa, or pair it with a regular winter coat for a resident who’s clearly really looking forward to December.
The red torso with a Santa Claus coat pattern provides the basis for the famous costume. Add a white minifigure beard, a matching head and red legs, and Santa is ready to go.
The same parts can also be used for a shop Santa, a Christmas play or a scene in which two Santas suddenly bump into each other at the same Christmas market. The latter will probably require a rather complicated explanation to the children present.
Build a LEGO® Christmas tree with loose pieces
A Christmas tree can be built on virtually any scale. For a small tree, a few cones and plant parts are sufficient. A larger tree can be built using layers of plates, wedges, clips and dark green leaves.
A dark green 3 x 3 x 2 cone makes a handy base for a compact Christmas tree. Stack various round or cone-shaped pieces on top of each other and add small coloured round plates as baubles.
Using dark green plant parts with three leaves gives the tree a looser and more natural shape. Position the leaves at different heights and angles so that the Christmas tree doesn’t look as though it’s just been pruned with a ruler.
Of course, a star belongs at the top. The pearl-gold star with a stud holder can be placed directly onto a stud. The piece can also be used as a wall decoration, table centrepiece or small ornament above a door.
No white Christmas? Just build the snow yourself
A white Christmas is never guaranteed in the Netherlands. A white LEGO Christmas is a lot easier to organise. With white plates, bricks, tiles and slopes, you can cover roofs, streets and landscapes without having to check the weather forecast.
Use large white plates as the base for a snowfield and finish off the edges with slopes and round pieces. By not making everything completely flat, you create a more natural landscape. Small elevations can represent snowdrifts, hills or walls half-buried in snow.
A simple 2 x 2 white brick can be used for solid surfaces and deeper layers of snow. The white 2 x 2 round tile is suitable for softer shapes, snowballs or the base of a snowman.
With an 8 x 16 white slab, you can quickly cover a larger area of a winter landscape. Combine several slabs with smaller pieces so that joints and straight edges are less noticeable.
Letters and presents for Father Christmas
A Christmas story often begins with a wish list. With printed LEGO tiles, you can place letters on tables, desks and in letterboxes. Add a postman, a sorting centre or a whole pile of unanswered post when the administration at the North Pole is running a bit behind.
The white brick featuring a post envelope and stamp looks great on Santa’s desk. The brick with the envelope, address and stamp can be used as a letter still waiting to be delivered.
With a bit of creativity, a red 2 x 2 x 2 container box can be transformed into a present, a letterbox or a storage box for toys. Add a tile, ribbon or small bow to give the piece a more festive look.
Use LEGO® food for a cosy Christmas market
A Christmas market isn’t just about fairy lights and wooden stalls. Minifigures also expect biscuits, rolls, cakes and hot drinks. With individual LEGO® food pieces, you can give each stall its own selection.
Build a bakery with biscuits and croissants, set up a table with Christmas cakes or place a small mug on every table. Brown bricks and round pieces can represent gingerbread, whilst white and red elements are perfect for icing and sweet decorations.
You can also use the food pieces in other ways. A white ice cream scoop can become a snowball, a croissant can serve as a decorative ornament, and with a bit of imagination, a red sausage can turn into part of a candy cane. The latter works best when nobody looks at the parts tray for too long.
A Christmas train around the winter village
A train brings movement to a LEGO Christmas village. Let a small locomotive run round the Christmas tree or build a station where visitors arrive for the Christmas market.
With separate LEGO® train parts, you can adapt an existing train to the Christmas theme. Add red and green carriages, place presents on a goods wagon and decorate the locomotive with gold-coloured details.
With separate LEGO® train tracks, you can extend the route around the village. Make sure you leave enough space for bends and buildings. A Christmas tree in the middle of an inside bend looks cosy – until a long carriage decides to take the lower branches with it.
Lighting completes a LEGO® Christmas village
A winter village becomes even more atmospheric when buildings, streets and Christmas trees are lit up. At ToyPro, you’ll find various lighting sets and lighting components for LEGO models.
Place warm lighting in houses and shops, use small lights along the street and add coloured lights to the Christmas tree. By not lighting every building with the same intensity, the overall effect remains calm and every part of the scene receives sufficient attention.
Always check which LEGO set a complete lighting set is designed for. Individual lighting components offer more freedom when building your own MOC, but also require careful planning. Conceal cables as much as possible behind walls, under plates or between buildings.
LEGO® accessories as Christmas gifts
Not everyone has room for yet another large LEGO set. Or at least, that’s what people without a good storage system often claim. For smaller Christmas presents, you might therefore want to take a look at the LEGO® accessories at ToyPro.

Use the next 100 days to plan a complete build
With 100 days to go until Christmas, you can break a large project down into smaller steps. Use the first few weeks to work out how much space you have and what theme you want to build. A traditional winter village requires different colours and parts to a Star Wars Christmas world or a full gingerbread village.
You can then create the main buildings and landscapes. Start with the base, the street layout and any train tracks. If you build all the little houses first and only then realise that the train can’t get round any of the bends, the building process becomes unnecessarily stressful.
Use the next phase for trees, lanterns, vehicles, stalls and winter activities. Build an ice rink, a sledge run, a Christmas market or Santa’s workshop. You don’t need to make every section the same size. A few small scenes can together tell a complete story.
Save the final few weeks for minifigures, accessories, lighting and small details. Add footprints in the snow, place presents in a sledge and set mugs on the tables. It’s precisely these small elements that make a LEGO Christmas MOC interesting to look at up close.
This way, your Christmas world grows gradually as the countdown continues. By the time the Advent calendar opens, the base will already be ready and you can add the new mini-models and figures to the village straight away.
How to find individual LEGO® Christmas parts at ToyPro

Wednesday 16 September might seem early to be thinking about Christmas, but for a LEGO builder, 100 days fly by surprisingly quickly. Especially when there’s still a Christmas village, a train set, a snowy landscape and Santa’s entire workshop to build.
Start small with a Christmas bauble, a Mini-Build or a single minifigure. Then expand the model with white snow pieces, Christmas trees, presents and lights. Step by step, you’ll create a LEGO Christmas world that can keep growing every year.
