Jump into a dream world and meet LEGO® DREAMZzz. LEGO® DREAMZzz launches May 15 with 10 animated episodes and is accompanied by a brand new product line. Further episodes will come from August 2023. The LEGO® DREAMZzz series follows the adventures of school friends Mateo, Izzie, Cooper, Logan and Zoey as they join a secret agency and learn to use the power of imagination to travel to the Dream World - and learn to defeat the tyrannical Nightmare King!
The story centers on a group of high school students who discover the age-old secret that the dream world exists.
Yes, the most important thing to know about LEGO DREAMZzz is that the dream world really exists. It's a place made up of different realms waiting to be discovered, from the futuristic Cyber Empire to the super sweet Candy Empire.
Each realm teems with incredible creatures that can only be created through the boundlessness of dreams. And everything you've ever dreamed of, whether you remember it or not, exists in that world. That's great news!
The BAD news (there is always bad news...) is that there is a Nightmare King who, along with his terrifying grim appearances, haunts the dream world and spoils the dreams of sleeping children. We said EVERYTHING you ever dreamed of was real.... and unfortunately, nightmares are among them. Nightmares that want to take over the dream world.... As well as the waking world...

But let's take another look at our heroes...
By day, they live exactly like any other kids. Drama, relationship problems, homework deadlines - the kind of problems every kid will recognize.
At night, however, their problems are not so recognizable. Mateo, Izzie and their friends must save innocent dreamers and take on the Nightmare King by mastering the power of dream creation while in the dream world For this, creators must use all of their inspiration to conjure up objects, tools, vehicles, companions - anything you can think of - while dreaming.
It is a process that requires the children to have confidence in their own abilities and overcome their individual limitations. Such as Izzie's impulsiveness, Cooper's perfectionism or Mateo's fear of judgments.
And while the children grow as creators in the dream world, they also grow as people in the real world.
The brand new theme has been 5 (V-I-J-F) years in the making. It is by far the most research LEGO® has ever done for a theme. We can put it another way. It is by far the most research LEGO® has ever done for a theme. In those 5 years, they consulted nearly 23,000 kids and 7,000 shoppers - for the TV show, the sets and everything in between. It was both a rewarding and challenging process (trying to keep something secret while telling 30,000 people...). The kids they talked to in their research told how they wanted something that was not constrained by logic. And we agree that this is often overrated.

These conversations were led by producer Tommy Andreasen and Tommy Kalmar, the creators of LEGO NINJAGO®, the most successful theme (so far...). The second Tommy recalled that the idea of dreams kept "bubbling to the surface. Two-thirds of the children they spoke with described dreaming as an important way for them to process negative emotions, while also being a very important form of creativity.
They spoke. And LEGO® listened. Five years later, the dream world was born...
As you've probably gathered, the LEGO® DREAMZzz franchise introduces not just one but two new worlds: the reality-based waking world and the fantastical dream world. Each set contains the best of both worlds, bringing together different passions, resulting in LEGO models that look completely unique and encourage children to make their dreams come true and carry them in the palm of their hands.

The sets are designed to encourage builders to act like the characters on the show - by taking something existing and transforming it into something brand new and unique. Like Mrs. Castillo's food truck that is paired with her turtle in the dream world. "Unique?!" we hear you exclaim. "How can you follow building instructions and still make something unique?"
They accomplished that by the way LEGO® structures and changes building instructions. About 80% of a first LEGO DREAMZzz build is completed by following the instructions. This section now looks almost like a comic book, with missions to complete as you build, giving children the feeling that they are really building a story. For the last 20%, however, the choice of what to make is left up to them.
The idea is that children will constantly work on their builds as they play. Like Mateo who needs an engine in the dream world and turned his sticky companion Z-Blob into one. The new building style offers children missions to solve and puts them in a problem-solving mindset, challenging them to push the limits of their creativity. An added benefit of this is that LEGO DREAMZzz incorporates more of children's passions than ever before with an off-the-shelf LEGO build. Because whether a child loves animals, vehicles, space, architecture or something completely different, there is something for them to build with LEGO DREAMZzz sets.

If you give a child a big pile of LEGO bricks, they will probably soon add wings to a car or fins to a ship. But with sets like the Nightmare Shark Ship, Mr. Oz's Space Bus or the Crocodile Car, we've taken that as our starting point. We can hardly imagine how kids are going to build on this!
This is also the most gender diverse cast of characters. Therefore, LEGO® is confident that LEGO® DREAMZzz will achieve its goal of being our most inclusive series yet that leaves no child behind.
And that's it. Now it's time to make your own dreams come true! We'll see you in the dream world! (If you see the Nightmare King, tell him we're not there...)
