Mantis is type of praying mantis, as well as a character from Marvel Comics comics. She first appeared in The Avengers in June 1973.
Mantis was raised by the Kree priests and trained in martial arts. She develops her telepathic powers there. She leaves the Kree planet and joins the Guardians of the Galaxy. Her goal: to protect innocent beings in space!
