A travelling exhibit dazzled visitors of a mall in Natick, Massachusetts last weekend with its huge LEGO® representations of US landmarks. One of the works shown at the Lego Americana Roadshow at Natick Mall was a 25-foot-long reproduction of the US Capitol building, whose sheer size made viewers wonder about the effort that was put into assembling it. “I’m trying to visualize people in a room putting it together,” said one of the viewers of the exhibit, as quoted by Wicked Local. Kicking off in this town three years ago, the exhibit has made many stops across the US, dropping by nine locations each year, according to Lego Americana Roadshow tour manager Andrew Little. The exhibition also features LEGO® replicas of the White House and the Washington Monument. Setting up the models at each stop may take time and a lot of work, but completing the models, which was taken care of by LEGO’s master builders in its North American headquarters in Connecticut, really took the cake. The LEGO Washington Monument, for instance, took 450 hours to complete, while the LEGO® White House needed a staggering total of 825 hours to be finished. Although he has seen the LEGO® landmarks transported from one exhibit site to the next, Little said he is still in awe of the project as though he belonged to the delighted audiences that have marvelled at the works. “This is the 27th time I’ve set it up and I’m always amazed every single time,” Little said. The LEGO® Americana Roadshow is on at Natick Mall until September 24th.
