The LEGO part lift arm is an important construction element in the LEGO Technic system. The lift bar is an elongated "brick" without the typical round studs, but with round holes. Unlike the classic LEGO brick, the Technic lift bar has rounded ends.
The Technic lift arm or lift beam comes in different lengths (2 to 15) and different shapes, such as straight, curved, L- and T-shaped. The half beam no longer comes only in the color light or dark gray. The number of colors to choose from is increasing.
A Technic lift beam can also have an axle hole in addition to or instead of pin holes. With the different types of pins and axles you connect the Technic parts with each other. The connection to "normal" LEGO bricks is made by using the half pin or connector with the LEGO® Design ID 4274. This connector turns the round hole back into a LEGO stud (nub).
In the interplay of LEGO System and Technic, the Technic brick is also interesting. The Technic brick is a brick with studs (on the top) as well as holes (in the side).
The lifting arm comes in two heights. The lifting arm of 1 brick high is the thick version and the lifting arm of ½ brick high is the thin version.
Use a lifting arm to make a structure or "skeleton" with it, to make connections with gears and axes, among other things, allowing movement. Buildings made with (mainly) LEGO Technic they are sturdier than with classic LEGO bricks. This is due to the typical pin-hole connections.
