Dragons play a central role in the NINJAGO® world, often connected to the elemental powers of ninjas. The best-known NINJAGO dragons are:
- Elemental Dragons:
Each ninja has a dragon that represents their element, such as: Kai's Fire Dragon, Jay's Lightning Storm Dragon, Zane's Ice Dragon and Cole's Earth Dragon
- The Source Dragons:
In more recent sets, such as "Kai's Bronze Dragon Battle," dragons are linked to ancient powers that protect the balance of NINJAGO.
- Overlord Dragons:
These dark dragons are often used by the ninjas' enemies, such as the Overlord's Golden Master Dragon.
- Mechanical Dragons:
In some stories, the ninjas or their enemies build mechanical versions of dragons, such as Lloyd's Green Ninja Mech Dragon.
