Build a Poppy from LEGO® parts

The poppy, with its delicate red petals and black heart, is a beautiful flower often found in fields and along roads. However, this flower is not only beautiful to look at; it also carries deep symbolic meaning. That is why we have now created this flower in LEGO® form. Yes, the petals are then made not from LEGO bricks but from minifigure capes.

By combining ordinary red capes with the black short cape collars, you get the black red petal. Of these, you put four on top of each other and get a complete flower bud. The heart of the flower can be left completely black with a black Plant Stem with 3 Leaves (37695) or you put a flower with petals and pin on this to get more detail in the flower bud. You make a curved stem with a green whip. For the leaves at the bottom of the stem, we used palm leaves. AND the entire stem of the flower you can make with part 37762 and part 1566.

To stand the flower we used a flower pot from the Tiny Plants set. We modified this one by filling the hollow space under the 4x4 round plate with two round 2x2 bricks and two round 2x2 plates (the colours don't matter, you don't see them). Through this you can stick a rod with a cone on top. Place the flower on top and it will stand firmly.

Symbol of Remembrance and Peace

The poppy is best known as a symbol of remembrance and peace. After World War I, the poppy became associated with the commemoration of fallen soldiers. This was due to the poem "In Flanders Fields" by Canadian doctor and lieutenant colonel John McCrae, in which he describes the poppies that bloomed on the battlefields of Flanders. Since then, the poppy has been worn in many countries, especially in the UK and Commonwealth countries, on Remembrance Day (11 November) to commemorate the victims of wars.

In short, the poppy is more than just a pretty flower; it is a powerful reminder of the sacrifices of the past and a symbol of hope for a peaceful future.
