If you have a large collection of LEGO® trains, we have found a great moc for you. With this motorised turntable you can put your trains back on the right track. At the end of the video you can see exactly which parts are needed for this MOC.
A railway turntable is an installation that allows railway equipment, such as locomotives or wagons, to change tracks or turn around within a limited space. A turntable consists of a circular pit, with a rotating bridge inside, which can be connected to several tracks. The bridge is supported by heavy steel wheels on one or two curved rails present in the pit and turns exactly in the middle around a bearing. The bridge is equipped with two heavy-duty locking mechanisms that ensure that the bridge is locked precisely to the tracks to be connected. Only when the bridge is locked may the rolling stock drive onto or off the bridge. Modern turntables are equipped with a simple system of signals that are linked to this locking system in order to prevent a locomotive from derailing due to poor track connection, or worse, from driving into the pit.
If you want more rails for your trains, you can of course order them at ToyPro. Or do you want to make a cool locomotive? We recently wrote about the BR 118 V180 - Diesel locomotive that was also made by Mimi68, just like the turntable MOC. Mimi68's YouTube channel features many more great locomotives, level crossings and other train equipment MOCs.
