Review: LEGO® DREAMZzz Mateo and Z-Blob the Robot 71454

Oh no! Jayden has been caught by a terrifying monster while he slept. But Mateo is ready to rescue him. Luckily, Mateo transformed his little assistant Z-Blob into a big robot in a dream, who can help him defeat the bad guy. Give Z-Blob blasters to attack the nightmare or a jetpack so he can track down the monster!

71454 Versions

This is one of the smaller sets in the LEGO® DREAMZzz theme and therefore only has three bags and a sticker sheet in the box. The Instruction Booklet again has drawn pictures that sort of form a story.

71454 Contents

In this story, we start with bag 1 and build Jayden and Jayden is very tired so we make a bed for him right away. Hopefully he will sleep peacefully because the bed is only two studs wide. When Jayden is in deep sleep he enters the dream world. But what is that? A nightmare creature enters his sleep and captures Jayden. Fortunately, we now have to build Mateo who also comes to the dream world and we can start building Z-Blob the Robot. By the end of bag 1, we have finished the robot's torso and head.

71454 Part 1

Bag two contains everything to build the robot's legs and arms. The robot is built with parts used in most LEGO® Mech's as also in the or the . This allows you to position all parts of the body nicely and keeps the robot standing firmly. Once you're done with the second bag, the standard Z-Blob robot is ready.

71454 Part 2

Shoot or fly

The choice is yours again. Do you give Z-Blob blasters or attack the nightmare or do you give him a Jetpack so he can track down the monster from the air to free Jayden. We chose to give Z-Blob a Jetpack. And we will definitely make the other version as well.

The minifigures

So in this set, there are two minifigures. Jayden is wearing purple pyjamas with purple trousers and an upper body with unicorns on the front and back. And his face has a sleeping face on one side and he is awake on the other. Mateo, as in other versions, has a lower body cast and printed in two colours and a blue printed upper body and the face has a grin or a smiling mouth. Mateo also wears a loose green belt.

Conclusion

It may not be the most exciting set from the LEGO® DREAMZzz sets but it is one of the sets in which Jayden appears in these first DREAMZzz sets. Furthermore, he also appears in the crocodile car set. Z-Blob's model is easy to model and stands firmly.

Z-Blob has been in the series since episode 1, but the moment Mateo turns Z-Blob into a robot is in episode 10.
