This LEGO® Creator Expert set is a 1 on 6 scale model of the real Harley-Davidson that came on the market in 1990. The motorcycle was named Fat Boy because the rear tire is wider than the front tire and this is also the case for the LEGO® model. Smart design techniques are often used in LEGO® Creator Expert sets. The makers have also used their ingenuity for the LEGO® 10269 engine as you can see in the following design video.

For example, the designers used aircraft engines for the outlets with a LEGO® container barrel. Also inventive is the incorporation of a LEGO® window in the motorcycle and a LEGO® string reel as a piston head.

To design this LEGO® set, the designers visited the Harley-Davidson factory in Milwaukee. There they studied the details of the Fat Boy to incorporate them as well as possible into the LEGO® model. The designers have included various references in the LEGO® Harley Davidson, such as the year of birth of the Harley-Davidson Fat Boy 2018 designer and a reference to the designers of the original 1990 Fat Boy.
