LEGO® History: LEGO® Clikits

LEGO® Clikits is a colorful and fun series of LEGO® parts and accessories introduced in 2003. Designed specifically for girls ages 6 to 12, it offers a creative way to make jewelry, accessories and decorations. But how did the LEGO® Clikits series come about and what is the history of LEGO® Clikits?

The start of LEGO® Clikits

The idea for LEGO® Clikits began in 2002, when LEGO® wanted to expand the market to a new audience - girls. The company had always mainly targeted boys with their traditional building brick sets and it was time to try something new. LEGO® came up with the idea of a range of parts and accessories that girls could use to make jewelry and decorations.

The Clikits range was officially launched in 2003 and included colorful parts, bracelets, necklaces, bags, mirrors, key chains and more. The idea was that girls could design and create their own unique jewelry and accessories using the Clikits parts.

The concept of LEGO® Clikits was based on the idea of "clicking." Hence the name. The parts and accessories can be easily clicked together to create different designs. The colors of the building blocks and accessories were bright and vibrant, and there were plenty of designs to choose from.

The end of LEGO® Clikits

LEGO® Clikits was very popular with girls around the world. It was a great success and new sets were released every year. In 2006 the range was expanded to include a variety of other merchandise such as bags, pens and watches. But in 2009, despite all the successes that had been had, LEGO® Clikits was discontinued.

There are several theories as to why LEGO® Clikits was eventually discontinued. Some think the range was not profitable enough, while others think the series was not popular enough with older girls and teens.

Still popular

But despite LEGO® Clikits no longer being produced, it remains a popular series among LEGO® enthusiasts and collectors. Many people still remember the series' fun and colorful building blocks and accessories, and many Clikits sets can still be found at online auctions and marketplaces. And of course, you can still order the individual parts of the LEGO® Clikits at ToyPro.com.

LEGO® Clikits was an innovative series designed to reach a new audience - girls. It was a great success and became very popular around the world. Although the series was eventually discontinued, it remains a popular and beloved series among LEGO® fans of all ages.

What else can you do with LEGO® Clikits?

The LEGO® Clikits are fun decorative elements that can be a nice decoration for your own LEGO® building or MOC. Because because they are all LEGO® parts, they are all compatible with regular LEGO® bricks. The Clikits are made with two different connectors. One is a hole connection and this hole is the same size as a stud. As a result, it fits on a stud or half a technic pin.

The other connection used has 4 protruding clips, and you guessed it, these obviously fit into the holes in LEGO® bricks. Note, however, that the Clikits will not fit into the Technic holes. This is because the holes of the Technic parts have a countersunk hole.
