Aberforth Dumbledore is the younger brother of Albus Dumbledore and the owner of the inn De Zwijnskop in Hogsmeade. Aberforth is a rather gruff and withdrawn man, but he is loyal to his friends and family. He has a complicated relationship with his brother because of events in their childhood, including the tragic death of their sister Ariana.
Aberforth helps Harry, Ron and Hermione gain access to Hogwarts through a secret passageway. His role as protector and his hidden goodness make him an unexpectedly important ally in the fight against Voldemort.
