Fear is one of the five emotions personified in Pixar's Inside Out (2015). It plays an important role in the mind of 11-year-old girl Riley and represents the emotion that helps her stay safe by warning her of potential dangers.
Fear is always wary of potential problems, whether it is a new food Riley is trying or a socially awkward situation. He tends to exaggerate, which often makes him appear humorous and comical. Although clumsy at times, Fear takes his responsibility to protect Riley very seriously.
Fear represents the natural human tendency to be cautious and avoid danger. He shows that fear can be useful and even necessary, but also that it is important to find a balance with other emotions such as joy and courage.
