The Knight Bus is an iconic vehicle from the Harry Potter series. In "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban", Harry is picked up by this magical purple bus, which transports wizards in distress with dizzying speed and surprising agility. LEGO® has released several versions of the Knight Bus over the years, each with unique features. Let's take a look at the different models that have been released.
This was the first LEGO® set of the Knight Bus. This set had 236 parts and was released as part of the 2004 Harry Potter series. The set had a simple design with a removable roof and middle section, so you could view the inside. The set included minifigures of Harry Potter and the conductor Stan Shunpike. Despite this being a small set, there was a fair amount of detail in the bus by using printed parts and using a grill for the front of the bus.

In 2011, LEGO® released an updated version of the Knight Bus. This set contained 269 parts and had a more detailed design than its predecessor. The bus had a more streamlined look and a movable wall and was again made in 3 separate layers so you could access the interior more easily. This set included minifigures of Harry Potter, Stan Shunpike and Ernie Prang.

The 3rd version of the Knight Bus appeared in 2019 and consists of 391 parts. Until then, this was the most detailed and realistic version. The bus had an opening side to reveal the inside. This set includes minifigures of Harry Potter, Stan Shunpike and Ernie Prang, as well as Dre Head's talking head. The bed in the bus can slide back and forth when the bus moves, just like in the film.

now introducing LEGO® the latest version of the Knight Bus: the 76446 Knight Bus Adventure. This set contains 499 parts and offers a modern take on the iconic vehicle. The set once again features the familiar purple triplane with improved details, including an even more realistic interior and new play features. This version includes no fewer than 4 minifigures of Harry Potter, Stan Shunpike, Ernie Prang and the sleeping witch, as well as additional accessories such as luggage and the dog Padfoot.

A polybag of the Knight Bus was also released in 2004 and contained 54 parts. Of course, there is not much detail in the bus. But for the enthusiast, it will always be recognisable. During a Make & Take event in the official LEGO® shops, an even smaller format of the bus was available. In fact, it consisted of only 36 parts.

The 75978 Diagon Alley set from 2025 also contains a small model of the bus and consists of only 43 parts. This is then not available separately as a set but you can easily recreate it.

The very smallest size knight bus was in the 76404 LEGO® Harry Potter Advent calendar from 2022. For this bus you only needed 11 parts and with 10 more parts you also had a small piece of road, pavement and a lamppost.

Each version of the LEGO® Knight Bus has its own charm. The 2004 version is nostalgic and simple, while the 2011 version offers a nice balance between playability and detail. However, the 2019 version is the most detailed and offers the best building experience for collectors and children alike. The 2024 version has the most minifigures, making it a great choice for young fans and LEGO collectors alike. Whichever set you choose, the LEGO Knight Bus remains a magical addition to your Harry Potter collection!
