Minecraft remains a popular theme within LEGO®, and that's not surprising with between 2.6 and 3.3 million players of the video game every day. We also continue to see this in the amount of LEGO® sets being released. Like the last released sets: LEGO® 21190 The Abandoned Village Farm and LEGO® 21189 The Skeleton Dungeon. Now of course you can go for the official sets if you are a fan of Minecraft. But what about the Diorama created by KOSBRiCKS.
In this diorama you can see many familiar elements from the Minecraft world, such as the animals and the trees with their characteristic shapes. Steve's cottage is fully furnished with bed, stove, grindstone, anvil, crafting table and much more. In any case, KOSBRICKS has again done everything possible to give this structure as much detail as possible.
We have written about KOSBRICKS' creations in the past, such as ‘Create mini and micro LEGO® transformers’. Or would you like to read back about another MOC ‘Create a LEGO® Minecraft diorama’. LEGO® Minecraft is a theme based on the sandbox video game Minecraft. The theme was first introduced in 2012. The game was conceived by Markus "Notch" Persson. After several early test versions, it was first made public in May 2009 before being fully released in November 2011, with Notch stepping down and Jens Bergensten taking over development. Minecraft has since been made available across platforms and is the best-selling video game of all time, with more than 238 million copies sold and nearly 140 million monthly active users as of 2021.
In Minecraft, players explore a blocky, procedurally generated 3D world with virtually infinite terrain, and can discover and extract resources, create tools and objects, and build structures, earthworks and simple machines. Depending on the game mode, players can fight against computer-controlled mobs, as well as team up with or compete against other players in the same world. Game modes include a survival mode, in which players must acquire resources to build the world and maintain health, and a creative mode in which players have unlimited resources and access to flights. Players can customize the game to create new game mechanics, items and resources. Minecraft received rave reviews, won several awards and was later called one of the greatest video games of all time. Social media, parodies, adaptations, merchandise, and the annual Minecon conventions play a big role in the game's popularity.
Because the game is so popular and the game world consists of blocks, Mojang (the game's publisher) was able to easily market a first set through the LEGO® CUUSOO program. The first Micro-World set was released on June 6, 2012. Portions of the sales proceeds went to a charity of Lego's choice. On July 17, 2013, it was announced that two additional Micro-World sets would be added to the Minecraft theme, based on the "Nether" and "Village" areas of the game. They were first shown at San Diego Comic-Con and released on Sept. 1, 2013. The fourth and final Micro-World set that explored "The End" region was released in summer 2014. Minifigure sized LEGO sets were then announced later in 2014. The first group of 6 minifig scale sets, including First Night, Mine, Ender Dragon, Crafting Box, Farm and Cave, were released from November to December 2014. Many minecraft sets continue to be added each year, and it looks like this will continue for some time to come.
