This was LEGO® World 2023

From 18 to 24 October, Europe's biggest LEGO® event took place in the Netherlands again: LEGO® World! Of course, ToyPro was also present to taste the atmosphere and see the creations of the best LEGO® builders. For everyone who was not present, we of course took plenty of pictures. So you can still see how fantastic it was.

Almost everything

Almost all LEGO® themes could be found in four halls. From Duplo for toddlers to LEGO® Star Wars. What we ourselves found unfortunate was that the ADULT and Botanical sets were quite limited and there were no LEGO® modular sets to be seen. Or we were unable to find them. Each theme had been given a great spot and was nicely decorated with large sculptures made of LEGO®. Each theme also always had something to build. At these spots, you could make the most beautiful creations using the LEGO® parts present in large numbers based on a small assignment.

Minifig making and block engraving

As a souvenir, you could have a free yellow 2 x 4 LEGO® brick engraved with, for example, your name, you could also make a minifigure for free. You started with a white torso printed on two sides. On the front is a large number 20, so it was the 20th anniversary of LEGO® World. Behind the LEGO® logo is the text LEGO® World 2023. You also had a choice of trousers, head and hair in different colours and styles. To make it extra festive, you could also make your minifigure a balloon.

GBC

The huge GBC (Great Ball Contraption) impressed the visitors and us too. Several LEGO fans had all tied different parts together to make one big round where you were almost hypnotised by the many LEGO® balls going around.

Fans creations

The area where we feasted our eyes was the LEGO® Fans Creation section. Here there were many large structures with lots of detail and many hidden little stories. There was always something new to discover, which also gave you a lot of inspiration to create a nice MOC yourself.

Playgrounds

For the children, besides the construction areas, there were also many play areas, such as a Spiderman assault course, you could see if you could run as fast as Sonic, play football in the panna cages or slide down the slide at LEGO® Friends and LEGO® City. Judging by the queues, these play areas were very much to your liking.

LEGO Museum

Nice to see was the small museum present with 90 years of LEGO® history. There was an audio tour voiced by Dutch TikTok kids Quinn & Aaron, who incidentally also do voices for the Dutch LEGO® DREAMZzz series. They took you past various showcases full of LEGO® History. So you walked from the wooden blocks, past the first construction boxes to the latest innovations and works of art.

Hopefully those of you who also went to LEGO® World enjoyed it as much as we did. Or you were able to enjoy it anyway through our photos and video. In any case, we are going again next year!
