Can you build a LEGO® Tensegrity? (examples & building instructions)

LEGO® tensegrity is currently very popular among LEGO® designers and we see many beautiful examples passing by. In this blog post we explain what tensegrity is and we show you some ingenious LEGO® tensegrity constructions that you can recreate yourself.

What is Tensegrity?

The word Tensegrity is made from the words tension and structural integrity. This concept refers to the integrity of structures based on a balance between tensile and compression loads. The structure consists of partly insulated elements that are balanced by a play of push and pull forces.

A tensegrity is a physical tour de force and amazing to see, this is because parts of the tensegrity seem to float. We understand that many LEGO® designers see a challenge in this. Below you will find some nice tensegrity constructions. Can you recreate them?

Of course, a tensegrity MOC from JK Brickworks cannot be missed and he also shows you step by step how to build this model. Below you will find a link to the 56 LEGO® parts you need to build this tensegrity.
