Isabela Madrigal is one of the main characters from Encanto, the 2021 Disney film and also available as a LEGO® minipuppet in the LEGO® Disney Classic series.
Isabela is the eldest daughter of Julieta and Agustín Madrigal and the sister of Mirabel and Luisa. Isabela is the perfect Madrigal: smart, beautiful and elegant. Everyone admires her, and the family sees her as the epitome of success. She can grow symmetrical and brilliant flowers and is expected to marry Mariano, a man her grandmother Abuela chose for her.
Mirabel initially sees Isabela as the golden daughter who never has problems. But when Mirabel accidentally causes chaos in Isabela's perfect room, she discovers that Isabela feels trapped by the expectations of others. She has always only created "perfect" things because it was expected of her, but when she accidentally grows a wild, asymmetrical plant, she realizes that her power can be much more creative and free than she thought.
This leads to the song "What Else Can I Do?" in which Isabela discovers that she can grow not only perfect roses, but also exotic, wild plants. She learns that perfection does not mean that everything must be symmetrical and controlled, but that there is beauty in imperfection and spontaneity.
