#BuildToGive

For many families around the world, the holidays are a magical time full of joy and celebration, but for some families, the holidays can be a difficult time. That's why the LEGO Group encourages everyone to share the superpower of play with children who need it most by building a heart out of LEGO® bricks as part of the #BuildToGive initiative.

For every heart shared on social media or on LEGO Life before 31 December with the hashtag #BuildToGive, the LEGO Group will donate a LEGO set to a child in need of play. The initiative aims to give 1.5 million children around the world in hospitals, children's homes or vulnerable communities the chance to play this holiday season. The sets are distributed through the LEGO Group's network of local charity partners in 24 countries around the world. Since 2017, more than 6.5 million LEGO sets have been donated through the LEGO Group's #BuildToGive initiative.

Build along too

It's easy to join in and share some joy and positivity; all anyone has to do is build a heart. It can be big, small, strange or beautiful - there is no right or wrong way to build a heart, just use your imagination! LEGO Play Well research has shown that play helps families bond with each other and makes them happier, but a recent LEGO survey also found that children spend an average of seven hours a week playing, and that a third of those children spend less than 3 hours - just 2% - of their week on unstructured play. What better reason to bring the family together for some festive fun than to pass on the superpower of play through #BuildToGive.

"Hearts are recognised around the world and in many cultures as a symbol of love, joy and positivity. This year, we are calling on families to help us spread that joy again by participating in the #BuildToGive initiative," said Diana Ringe Krogh, Vice President Social Responsibility at the LEGO Group. "We are now in the seventh year of #BuildToGive. Thanks to people around the world, through #BuildToGive we have donated millions of LEGO® sets to children in need of play. We look forward to seeing all the different interpretations of hearts this year and are grateful to once again be able to turn that creativity and play into a moment of giving."

Alongside this campaign, the LEGO Group is working with a number of charity partners and the LEGO Foundation to bring play to children in need in communities around the world. These programmes give children the chance to develop life skills such as problem-solving, collaboration and communication, which promotes their well-being and helps them succeed in a fast-paced world.

About #BuildToGive

As part of the #BuildToGive 2023 Holiday activation, the LEGO Group is donating one LEGO® set to charity for every heart built with LEGO bricks and shared on social media with #BuildToGive. The total annual donation is up to 1,500,000 LEGO sets with a total value of USD 15,000,000.

Supporting another charity

ToyPro is also supporting a good cause with its customers this year. Namely the Erasmus MC in Rotterdam. Together with ToyPro's clients, we want to donate flower sets. As a client, you can donate a flower polybag. For every 3 polybags that are donated, ToyPro ensures that a larger flower set is donated. This way, we can all make the hospital stay a little more pleasant and colourful. This can be done via this link. Want to know more about this initiative? Then you can read that here.
