The days are getting shorter and it’ll soon be time to bring out the Christmas decorations again. A lovely time to give your LEGO® flowers and plants some extra attention too. With the right Lightailing lighting, the models that sit on the cupboard during the day will also become an atmospheric feature of your home in the evening.
You don’t need to build a whole LEGO® Christmas village to achieve this. An illuminated poinsettia on a sideboard or a small botanical collection on a shelf can create a lovely effect in its own right. At ToyPro, you’ll find various Lightailing lighting sets for LEGO® models. Below, we take a look at six designs for flowers and plants, with ideas for the darker months.
The Christmas star, also known as the poinsettia, is the perfect symbol of December. Have you already built the LEGO® 10370 Poinsettia? If so, you can give the model an extra festive look with the matching Lightailing lighting set. The lighting emphasises the plant’s shapes and colours, ensuring the model stands out even in low light.
Another option is lighting for LEGO® 10369 Plum Blossom. The plum blossom has a completely different look, allowing you to choose between a distinctly Christmassy decoration and a floral model that will still look good even after the festive season.
For example, place a single illuminated model in a quiet spot on the sideboard. Leaving a bit of space around it keeps the focus on the flowers and prevents your creation from getting lost amongst the other Christmas decorations.
Even LEGO® plants without a distinct Christmas theme are perfect for a cosy winter evening. A dedicated Lightailing lighting set is available for LEGO® 10309 Succulents. This helps to highlight the different shapes in the plant arrangement when it gets dark.
The lighting set for LEGO® 10348 Japanese Red Maple Bonsai Tree is another option. This model features a tree shape with branches and leaves, giving it a different silhouette to the succulents. With lighting, this botanical creation will also stand out in your home.
Would you like to display several plants together? Then alternate between shorter and taller models. First, arrange them in their places without the lighting and view the display from the sofa or dining table. This way, you’ll quickly notice if a plant is hidden behind another model and where you might want to leave a bit more space.
For a tranquil floral corner, take a look at LEGO® 10343 Mini Orchid and LEGO® 11504 Peace Lily. A specific Lightailing lighting set is available for both models. This allows you to highlight the flowers and leaves without having to change the entire display.
The Mini Orchid is ideal for a smaller space on a cupboard or shelf. The Peace Lily, on the other hand, offers a different combination of flowers and leaves. Above all, choose the model you’d like to have in your home: the lighting complements your existing build.
These lighting sets also make a great Christmas present for someone who already owns the corresponding LEGO® plant. Just make sure to check the exact set number. For example, a lighting set for the Mini Orchid 10343 is designed specifically for that model and isn’t automatically compatible with another LEGO® orchid.
Always start with the set number of your model. The six lighting sets in this article are each designed for a specific model. You should therefore compare the number on the LEGO® box or building instructions with the number in the lighting set’s product name.
Lightailing is a separate brand that makes lighting for LEGO® builds. When you buy a lighting set, you’re purchasing the lighting kit; the LEGO® flower or plant model shown is not included. Also, check for each product which power supply and connectors are required and what’s included in the pack.
Decide in advance where the model will be placed and how you want to conceal the cables. During assembly, follow the instructions for your lighting set and test the lights before putting everything back in place permanently. You can read more about the process in our article on installing Lightailing lighting.
An illuminated LEGO® Christmas star can, of course, take centre stage in December. The other flowers and plants can also retain a place in your home décor afterwards. By changing the arrangement every now and then, the same collection takes on a different look.
