LEGO 31148 Alternative building instructions

Get even more out of the LEGO® 3-in-1 Retro Roller Skates set (31148) with these alternative building instructions. The LEGO® 31148 Retro Roller Skates set is a charming and nostalgic set that evokes memories of the 70s and 80s. The set is designed as a 3-in-1 Creator model, which means you can make three different constructions with the same bricks. This already offers a lot of fun and variety, but for true LEGO fans, this is just the beginning. With a bit of creativity and inspiration, you can build endless alternative models with the same bricks. Below, we present some alternative building instructions to get you started.

31148 Candyshop

1. Candy shop

The Retro Roller Skate set contains an array of colourful bricks that are perfect for making a sweet shop. This build is relatively simple and does not require advanced techniques. Start by building the base with a rectangular shape. Use the small 1x1 tiles to form the letters and finally add some details with the colourful bricks to complete the retro feel.

31148 Oldtimer

2. Oldtimer

For a really nostalgic feeling, build a miniature oldtimer. Start by making a sturdy, frame. This build requires a bit more detail work, but the end result is a cute and recognisable oldtimer that perfectly matches the retro style of the original set.

Scooter

3. Scooter

This build is clearly recognisable. Unfortunately, this scooter does not allow you to steer with this alternative. But the wheels can turn. Other than that, it is in perfect proportions.

31148 f1car

4. Formula 1 car

Another fun building option is a Formula 1 car. Use the wheels of the roller skate for the car and build a body with the remaining bricks. Add details like the wings a spoiler and sidepods to make the car realistic. This build is ideal for young builders or anyone who wants to make a fun, playable model quickly.

More alternative models

These alternative builds were created by Dejata, Dafeld and Tomic. On their Rebrickable sites, you can still find many of their own creations (MOCs) and alternative builds. Many for free but also some for a fee. In any case, we would like to thank them for sharing these great creations.

Making your own alternative models

  • Use your imagination: The bricks in the Retro Roller Skates set are versatile and colourful. Let your creativity run wild and try out new combinations.
  • Mix and match: Combine stones from other sets to add even more variety and detail to your models.
  • Share your creations: Show others what you have built. Post photos of your creations online on social media for inspiration and share with #toyprobuilds

With these alternative building instructions, you can get even more fun and value out of the LEGO® 31148 Retro Roller Skate set. Whether you build a vintage car, a miniature sweet shop or a Formula 1 car, the possibilities are endless and the only limit is your own imagination. Have fun building!
