About the year of the ox
The ox is the second animal in the twelve-year cycle of the Chinese zodiac according to the Chinese calendar. According to Chinese astrology, the ox is powerful, reliable, a born leader, a hard worker, gentle, patient, and prefers to take the shortest route. However, an ox can also be violent and sometimes stubborn.
The Chinese New Year falls on Friday the 12th of February in the Western calendar in 2021. In China, at least before the current pandemic, people go on family holidays for the New Year, so there is a big migration of people every year. The celebration is not limited to New Year's Day but lasts 15 days.
During these days, large parades take place in which people dress up as lions or dragons. There is also a family dinner and on the 15th day of the new year, the festivities end with a lantern festival. It is also customary to give children an envelope with money as a gift and this is also incorporated in the LEGO® set "The Year of the Ox".
