Joy is the shining center of Riley's emotions and loves to take charge to make sure Riley stays happy. She is tremendously dedicated to her mission to make Riley happy and has trouble letting other emotions, such as sadness, play a role. Although she initially struggles to understand the value of sadness, she eventually learns that other emotions are also important for a balanced life.
