Innovations from LEGO® car history

In the real history of lego cars there have been many changes and improvements. As a result, over the years car models have become more and more realistic. Want to know how the LEGO® car has evolved over the years? Then read on quickly.

The Early Years: The First LEGO® Cars

In the 1960s, LEGO® introduced the first simple cars made from LEGO® blocks. These early models, like the LEGO® System sets, were rudimentary and consisted of basic bricks without much detail. The focus was on creativity and building fun, where children could design and build their own vehicles. Wheels were often fixed and cars were usually straightforward, straightforward, without many moving parts.

The 1970s: More Realism and Functionality

In the 1970s, LEGO® began to refine its car designs. With the introduction of special parts such as steering wheels, windows and more detailed bodies, cars became more realistic. The classic LEGO® CITY sets brought iconic vehicles such as police cars, fire trucks and ambulances, which gave children a sense of realism and recognition.

The 1980s: The Rise of Technic and Advanced Mechanisms

The 1980s marked an important period for LEGO® cars with the introduction of LEGO® Technic. This line revolutionized the design of LEGO® vehicles with the addition of advanced mechanical parts such as gears, axles and suspension. Models like the Technic cars were not only realistic, but also functional with working engines, steering and suspension systems. This was a gamechanger for older children and adults interested in mechanics and engineering.

The 1990s: Diversification and Licensing

In the 1990s, LEGO® continued to expand its product line by partnering with popular film and TV franchises. This resulted in licensed sets such as the LEGO® Racers and the famous LEGO® Speed Champions series. The Speed Champions series, launched in 2015, offered detailed models of real racing and sports cars such as Ferrari, Porsche and McLaren. These sets were a hit not only among children, but also among adult collectors.

The Years 2000 to Now: Innovation and Digital Integration

In the 21st century, LEGO® focused on innovation and integrating digital technologies. LEGO® Boost and LEGO® Mindstorms brought programmable vehicles that children could build and control through apps. These sets combined traditional LEGO® building fun with modern technology, allowing children to not only build, but also code and bring their creations to life.

In addition, more and more detailed and complex models were released, such as the LEGO® Creator Expert cars and the LEGO® Technic supercars. Models such as the Bugatti Chiron, the Lamborghini Sián and the Porsche 911 are all masterpieces of engineering and design, with thousands of parts and unparalleled attention to detail.
