Building a spiral staircase with LEGO® can be a real challenge, but it is a great way to improve your creativity and construction skills. A spiral staircase requires precision and patience, as the staircase must spiral up and remain stable. Here is an example to help you make your own LEGO® spiral staircase! made from only six different parts per step. How many parts you need to cover the height of a floor may vary for everyone.
Start with the central axis, as this is the most important part to attach the steps to and maintain the structure of the spiral staircase. We use part 3386 for this, it has a round shape which gives the axis a full round shape. This is also perfect at minifigure size in terms of height.
To an antenna (3957b), we slide a shield (2586). This can then be inserted into the shaft's stud.
These consist of 3 parts: the 32828, 11090 and the 53451. Assemble these as you can see in the video.
Now it's repeating making the steps until you get the right height for your structure
Now you can start stacking the stairs. Put each step at a small angle so that you get a nice spiral like a real spiral staircase.
Test stability regularly: Try not to add too many steps at once. See if the stairs hold up well and adjust if necessary. Experiment with colors and shapes: Spiral staircases look even more interesting with different colors for each step or a pattern to match the rest of your structure. Use Technic elements for extra strength: With Technic pieces, you can add moving parts and provide a sturdier structure.
With these steps and tips, you can build yourself an impressive LEGO® spiral staircase that fits perfectly into your builds!
This is just one example of a simple but elegant staircase. You can of course experiment with different colors or other individual LEGO® parts. Have you designed a beautiful staircase yourself? Then share it on TikTok, Facebook or instagram with : #toyprobuilds.
