The Night Hunter has used the powers of dreams to capture Izzie's favorite stuffed animal and combine it with a pirate ship to create a scary zombie shark ship! Dive into the dream world to build the terrifying ship with this awesome LEGO® DREAMZzz construction set. Choose ship mode for powerful engines and sails or tank mode with cool accessories and flying eyeballs. The ship looks so terrifying, it would almost give you nightmares.

Opening the box reveals a whopping 14 bags. With 1389 parts, this is therefore the largest set of the LEGO® DREAMZzz theme. We will therefore quickly start working on this large LEGO® model.

The story in the build begins with Nova falling asleep and dreaming that her sweet little toy is taken over by a nightmare. And if that is not enough, Snivel also comes after Nova. Furthermore, using the LEGO® parts from the first bag, we build most of the bottom of the shark ship.

From the second baggie, we continue building the shark's jaw. In this will come several moving parts. With these you can later make the mouth move and retrieve the anchor. When we continue with the third pouch we will build further back and make a bed for the prison that is in the shark's belly.

With bag four and five, continue to build the rear part of the shark ship. This part is also quite solidly made. Occasionally I do think that perhaps a few fewer parts could have been used. When all parts are used at the end of bag five, you have the prison and several fish bones ready as well.

The shark's tail is still unfinished. The final parts for the tail are in bag 6. The purple background contrasts nicely with the black stripes on the shark. And once you've made the fins on the end of the tail, this bag is empty again, too. Except for the spare parts.

Now the nightmare really comes to life. The Nightmare King is coming! He builds a ship on the shark. The first piece we build with bag of sieves is the top of the shark's head with the ship's prow on top. By turning the lever on the side of the shark's head, the mouth can now move up and down. With bag 8, we continue building on the front of the ship with the cannons and a lamp at the front of the ship.

The aft section, the captain's cabin, is largely in pockets nine, ten and eleven. This section of the boat can also be unfolded making it easily accessible for play. This also contains additional weapons for the nightmare creatures.

As we begin bag twelve we see that Izzie has also fallen asleep and is coming to the dream world. Unfortunately she is noticed by Susan who takes her stuffed rabbit with her. We continue to build the back of the ship with the rudder and a treasure is also hidden. There are lots of nice details in the back so it really looks like a pirate ship. The stuffed rabbit that was captured is kept in the captain's cabin.

Our hero of the dream world runs out of pocket thirteen and goes to try to rescue Nova and the stuffed rabbit along with Izzie and Z-Blob. Of course, the Nightmare King won't let that happen and wants to run away quickly. How he does this is up to you. because you can now choose in what form you continue to build the shark pirate boat. Will it be a flying ship with jet engines or will you make a driving boat and a flying eye? The choice is yours. We chose to make the moving boat. Together with the parts from bag number fourteen, the boat is ready and you can finish this story. Will you succeed in freeing Nova. Or will the Nightmare King win this battle?

There are seven minifigures in this set. Well, yes actually six. Z-Blob can't really be called a minifigure. This is part number 58176 with eyes printed on it. Mateo has two-tone pants and blue shirt that are printed. He also has a loose belt and cape. The head is printed on two sides as in the other sets Mateo is in. Nova's head is also printed on two sides with a waking face on one side and a sleeping face on the other, and she is wearing blue/lilac pajamas with sloth print. Susan wears a flame headpiece with loose horns and has a printed little body. The Nightmare King has printed white legs a body printed on two sides. The little head also has a double print. Izzie has printed legs and torso. Around her neck she has shoulder pads and her head is printed on two sides. On one side she has a smiling open mouth and has her eyes open. On the other side she has a smiling mouth with her teeth together and has her eyes squeezed shut. The hair is transparent satin purple and she wears it backwards in a ponytail. Snivel has a printed small body, shoulder protection. The head is of a new size and measures 2x2x2.

The Nightmare Shark Ship is a very cool set to put together. The moving parts and hidden treasure add nice details to this ship. Some parts of the ship do contain a lot of parts that may seem a bit unnecessary. While other parts might have been better secured with an extra pebble. The ship will certainly go through a lot of adventures.

In the second episode of the first season, the stuffed shark is already transformed into the shark ship. If you want to know how this went, you can watch the episode again here.
