It has been a while since we started our action for patients of Erasmus MC in Rotterdam. High time to inform you about the progress. We can report that by now more than 350 flowers have been donated. This results in more than 100 larger flower sets! We will bring and hand them over to the hospital on Sunday, February 4 (World Cancer Day).

We are extremely proud and grateful that you have donated so massively. Together we can brighten the hospital stay for many patients anyway. Donating is still possible until January 31.
The hematology department at Erasmus MC houses patients with benign and malignant diseases of blood, bone marrow and lymph nodes. These patients have a low resistance and can quickly get inflammations. This is the reason they are not allowed to have flowers in their rooms. Unfortunately, these patients are sometimes in the hospital for a very long time. Often it is not only chemotherapy or radiation, but also transplants. We would like to offer these patients something extra. LEGO® flowers are a nice alternative to brighten up the room a little during the hospital stay. By putting the LEGO® set together themselves, the patient is distracted from being sick for a while. It can also be a nice topic of conversation with visitors. The flower can be taken home upon discharge from the hospital. Together with the customers of ToyPro we want to donate these flower sets. As a customer, you can donate a flower polybag in the shopping cart at checkout. For every 3 polybags donated, ToyPro will ensure that a larger flower set is donated. This way we can all make the hospital stay a little more pleasant and colorful.
World Cancer Day, organized by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC), is a fairly new holiday that aims to bring attention to the ancient disease of our time. The day began in 2000 at the World Cancer Summit in Paris and was formally adopted by what is called the Paris Charter. The Charter was created with many goals, including promoting research into cancer prevention and cure, as well as raising awareness and bringing about changes in patient services. The founders knew that increased awareness and information would mobilize the global community to help fight cancer - in the spirit of this Charter, World Cancer Day was created.
The event focuses primarily on the power of collective action and the need to ensure equal access to medical care, including diagnosis and treatment. While it is understandable to feel overwhelmed by cancer, World Cancer Day is about taking positive action, making it a day of inspiration and hope.
