LEGO® fans, beware! Starting next month, a new tax will be introduced on plastic building bricks: the so-called "Plastic Tax. This means that every LEGO® order will now be subject to an additional charge depending on the number of bricks you order.
The measure is intended to reduce plastic consumption and encourage consumers to be more conscious of their purchases. For every 100 grams of LEGO® bricks, there is a €0.50 surcharge. So this can add up considerably for large sets and bulk orders!
According to the new regulations, web shops must automatically include the Plastic Tax in the total amount of the order. This will increase prices of popular LEGO® sets such as the Millennium Falcon and Hogwarts Castle.
Although LEGO® itself is already taking steps toward more sustainable alternatives, such as bioplastics and recycled materials, this tax is still being introduced as an additional incentive to further reduce the use of plastic.
So take advantage of current prices quickly, before the Plastic Tax takes effect from 01-04-2025! Or look for alternative building materials, such as wooden blocks or sustainable bricks.
