Working 2 x 2 LEGO® monitor

A very ingenious modder (modders are hobbyists who skillfully update or improve their electronics equipment by adding all sorts of technical gadgets to it) has built a tiny OLED screen into a slanted 2 x 2 LEGO® brick, making it look exactly like it has become a real LEGO monitor. Inspired by the wedge-shaped computer cube from LEGO®'s iconic space sets, the DIY component features a tiny OLED screen, complete with a scrolling animation that brings the cube to life.
In a Twitter clip, modder James Brown shows off his LEGO® OLED monitor and its electronic inner workings. James Brown created a special transparent 3D printed cube to mimic the look of the original part. The cube must be transparent to make the screen visible and well protected. The cube is made so that if you place it on a battery pack, it will automatically start up and come to life.
This LEGO® cube looks like a vintage monitor, with text lines on the screen. As you will know as a LEGO® enthusiast, there are lots of wedge-shaped bricks that look like screens. A few of these variations James has already made as well. In a couple of follow-up tweets, James already shows a radar and a trench run-like game that you can even control by pressing the top buttons.
If this is developed further it would, of course, be great for e.g. a LEGO® Batman MOC or other own projects. Who knows, maybe it will be used in real LEGO® sets in the long run. Or will it be built into other LEGO® bricks? I can already imagine it happening: LEGO® televisions, screens in the LEGO® soccer stadiums, or billboards in LEGO® City.
