New Era for LEGO® NINJAGO®

After 12 years, the LEGO Group unveils a new era for LEGO® NINJAGO® with a world created from merged realms, in which beloved characters return but brand new ones are also introduced. In addition, fans will enjoy the new assortment of LEGO products and an animated television series created with the Unreal Engine. The products and TV show launch June 1.

"We wanted to create a new LEGO® NINJAGO world with exciting characters and elements that invites new fans and stays true to the iconic legacy. So, in addition to welcoming our familiar ninjas, we are equally excited to introduce new fantastical ninja and dragon characters. This follows research we did with children in 2021, which showed that they really wanted dragons to be central to the new story." Says Nigel Kong, Head of Product at LEGO® NINJAGO.

The new series introduces the new ninja characters Sora and Arin, and the baby dragon character Riyu. This new generation of NINJAGO characters comes together and must discover their true potential to find the familiar ninjas who have gone missing in a new world of merged realms. The ninjas will need all the help they can get to defend the source dragons that will unite their world forever or destroy it completely.

After 12 years of storylines, villains, character dilemmas across 15 TV seasons and 215 episodes broadcast in 191 countries and translated into 26 languages, a movie, mini-movies, video and app games, more than 200 million LEGO® NINJAGO sets sold, magazines, books coloring books, graphic novels, trading cards, merchandise, clothing collaborations with cool brands, gold minifigures, 10th Anniversary sets, hotel rooms, a LEGOLAND® park attraction, and a huge fan community - the world of LEGO® NINJAGO is now reaching new heights.

When will the sets and shows arrive?

The all-new LEGO® NINJAGO: Dragons Rising TV show is coming to channels and streaming services around the world starting June 1. Part 1 airing in June consists of 10 episodes of 22 minutes each, while Part 2 with another 10 episodes will be released in the fall. The show was created with the Unreal Engine, which allowed the team to be more collaborative and creative in the animation process, and achieve a higher visual quality than ever before.

The LEGO® NINJAGO: Dragons Rising sets will go on sale starting June 1, 2023. These new LEGO® NINJAGO sets include a range of products featuring new and original characters, including:

For ages 4+:

Kai and Ras's Car and Bike Battle (71789) This includes a dragon car, an all-terrain vehicle, Kai and Lord Ras minifigures, a piece of blue lightning in a display holder and 2 flame elements that kids can use to reenact exciting moments from the TV series.

Nya and Arin's Baby Dragon Battle (71798) This set includes 2 dragons, a jet plane and a shelter cave with energy crystals, plus 3 minifigures to inspire countless hours of gripping role-play.

For ages 6+ and 7+:

Kai's Dragon Power Spinjitzu Flip (71777), Nya's Dragon Power Spinjitzu Drift (71778), and Lloyd's Dragon Power Spinjitzu Spin (71779) let fans master Spinjitzu skills with interactive flipping and spinning toys.

Imperium Dragon Hunter Hound (71790) includes a monster and 3 minifigures. The set lets fans travel to Imperium for a daring mission with Jay and Lloyd as they take on the Imperium Claw General, who is riding a fearsome Photac Beast.

Zane's Dragon Power Spinjitzu Race Car (71791) includes a ninja car, 2 gliders and 4 minifigures. Fans can push down the car's spoiler to activate its dragon power and perform a stealth spin attack.

For ages 8+ and 9+:

Sora's Transforming Mech Bike Racer (71792) includes a mech, a dragon and 3 minifigures. Fans can jump into the cockpit of the mech before transforming it into a souped-up bike to engage in a high-speed chase with Rapton on his glider.

Heatwave Transforming Lava Dragon (71793) includes a ninja dragon, a hovercraft vehicle and 5 minifigures. With Kai, Lloyd and Wyldfyre, fans can transform Heatwave into battle mode and fight back by firing his purple dragon power element at the dragon hunters.

Lloyd and Arin's Ninja Team Mechs (71794) includes 2 combat knives and 5 minifigures. Fans can help Master Lloyd and Arin jump into some awesome mech suits or combine the two mechs into 1 larger fighting mech.

Temple of the Dragon Energy Cores (71795) is a NINJAGO Temple set featuring 6 minifigures, including Cole, Kai and Nya. The set takes fans on a journey to the World Forest to explore the Temple of the Dragon Energy Cores.

Elemental Dragon vs. The Empress Mech (71796) includes a dragon, mech, ninja flyer and 6 minifigures. With this set, fans can team up with baby dragon Riyu, Sora, Zane and Jay to take on Lord Ras, Empress Beatrix and an Empire Guard.

Destiny's Bounty - race against the clock (71797) takes fans to the skies and flies above the merged world. The set includes the Ninja Airship, 2 Dragons and 6 Minifigures.

For ages 14+:

LEGO NINJAGO City Markets (71799) is a highly detailed set with a whopping 6,163 pieces! This is NINJAGO's largest construction set ever with 4 floors and includes: A cable car, a bakery, a boat, apartments, an elevator, a rooftop eatery and much more. The set stands 50 cm tall and comes with 21 minifigures, including Blacksmith Kai, Urban Sora, Urban Arin, Detective Zane, Hounddog McBrag, Gayle Gossip, Chamille, Miss Demeanor and Dareth. For fans who love a large and intricate build, they can experience all the color, excitement and vibrancy of NINJAGO City.

LEGO® Ninjago minifigures

Do you like adventure, mystery and action? Then the Ninjago theme is for you! In the Ninjago universe, the ninjas fight evil. The Ninjago theme was introduced by LEGO® in January 2011. This theme builds on the earlier Ninja theme. Ninjago revolves around the young ninjas: Cole, Jay, Kai and Zane. They have all been trained by Master Sensei Wu to protect the island of Ninjago from evil forces. Every season there is a new episode. There are now 11 seasons, each with their own story and corresponding building sets.

The ninja degrees of the minifigures of Kai, Cole, Jay, Zane and Nya can be recognized by their outfit. Ninja students only wear a sash with the symbol for their strength. If the student tamed his first dragon, he becomes DX Ninja and wears a dragon robe (a spitting dragon is depicted on the torso).

The next degree is Kendo Ninja. The Kendo uniform consists of a helmet and armor. As a ZX, Ninja wears the ninjas shoulder protectors with their scabbard for the Katanas. If the ninja uses the pure energy of his element he will appear as a NRG Ninja. In addition to these variants, there are also the Kimon, the Techno and a few other outfits.
